FAQs
How do I reserve a GPS device?
You can easily make your reservation by emailing us at loopsxsadv@gmail.com. Let us know the dates you will be visiting the area. We do not do online booking.
Do you require a deposit?
No, in order to reserve our GPS system, we take payment in full for the total of the rental period. You will be emailed a receipt verifying the rental day(s) and the total price of the rental. Then on the day of the rental, we run a pre-authorization for the value of the GPS, Tablet and Ram-Mount, mounting hardware. This Pre-authorization is not a charge, but instead a hold on your credit card for 7 days. This is just in case there is damage, or loss of the equipment.
What methods of payment do you accept?
All reservations and security / damage deposits require use of a credit card, we accept everything but American Express.
Do you require a security and/or damage deposit?
We require a Security / Damage Pre-Authorization of $650. Before you leave with the rental devices, this amount will be a pre-authorized on your card. Once the rented equipment is returned without damage, the pre-authorization will be released. We inspect and disenfect all equipment following each rental, and many times damage is not discovered until this process is completed. If there is no damage, there is no claim on your pre-authorized funds, however our bank does not release the funds until the 7 day Pre-Authorization / Hold period has passed. Your credit card company may keep the hold in place a couple more days. Revised 7/22/2021.
What equipment is included in the rental price?
GARMIN GPS In-Reach with its own clamp-on RAM-Mount
8” Tablet in an OtterBox case with its own clamp-on RAM-Mount
Charging cables for both devices along with a 2 port cig plug adapter
GPS tracking device – monitored by LOOP Base Camp
Paper Map with the main routes color coded to match the electronic tablet map.
Can you tell me more about the GPS navigation equipment?
Yes! We utilize Garmin In-Reach GPS devices that provide GPS tracking, text communication, and navigation. Each device is Bluetooth connected to an on-board tablet that is pre-loaded with the routes we have mapped. Get as lost as you are comfortable with, while having the peace-of-mind that we monitor your location while you explore. These devices have been so popular, that we have decided to offer them for rent independent from the machine rental.

What else should I bring on your adventure?
At the elevation that we explore there is always a chance of inclement weather, (wind, rain, sleet), so rain-gear is a necessity. Depending on the time of year we recommend bringing along a Windbreaker / rain jacket, long pants, a fleece jacket or heavy sweatshirt, warm socks, waterproof shoes or boots, a warm hat / beanie, a facemask, neck gator, bandanna, or balaclava, water, and snacks. Some days you can get away with shorts and a T-shirt, but you need to be prepared.
Other recommended items to bring would be gloves, sunglasses, blanket(s), a camera, cell phone chargers / boost packs, and binoculars.
